Judea and Samaria: The Biblical Heartland of Israel — Not “Occupied Palestinian Land”

The Lie:

  • Israel is illegally occupying “Palestinian land” in the “West Bank”, and the only way to achieve peace is to establish a Palestinian state in the area.

The Truth:

  • Judea and Samaria—the land’s name for thousands of years—is the ancient, biblical, and legal heartland of the Jewish people, not the Palestinians. “West Bank” is a modern term invented after Jordan conquered the area in 1948 and murdered or expelled every Jew who lived there. This land was promised to Israel by God and restored to Israel in a defensive war. A “two-state solution” would divide the Jewish homeland, reward terrorism, and endanger millions of Israelis.

Background:

  • The Balfour Declaration (1917), San Remo Accords (1920), and League of Nations Mandate for Palestine (1922) affirmed the Jewish right to re-establish their national home “throughout the land,” including Judea and Samaria.
  • Jordan’s 1949–1967 occupation of the region was illegal and unrecognized. Jewish communities in Hebron and Gush Etzion were destroyed, and Jews were ethnically cleansed from all of Judea and Samaria.
  • In 1967, Israel liberated the territory in a defensive war after Jordan attacked. UN Resolution 242 deliberately avoided demanding full withdrawal, recognizing Israel’s right to “secure and recognized boundaries.”
  • In 2024–2025, world leaders — Emmanuel Macron, UN chief Antonio Guterres, and the Arab League once again pushed the failed two-state illusion, demanding a Palestinian state in Judea and Samaria with East Jerusalem as its capital. Their plan would carve up Israel’s biblical heartland and put terror bases within minutes of Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.

The Truth Explained:

  • The United Nations’ Mandate for Palestine explicitly affirmed “the historical connection of the Jewish people with Palestine and the grounds for reconstituting their national home.” Avalon Project – Yale Law School
  • Lt.-Col. Maurice Hirsch (JCPA, 2025): Israel’s rights in Judea and Samaria are grounded in binding post-WWI treaties and remain protected under Article 80 of the UN Charter. JCPA: The State of Israel’s Legal Right to Judea and Samaria
  • The two-state solution is a failed and dangerous fantasy. Neville Berman warns it “might not solve the problem at all but could actually lead to a much wider conflict,” inviting Iranian and Russian influence into Israel’s heartland. Jerusalem Post: A Two-State Solution Is a Bad Idea (Sept 2024)
  • Israeli sovereignty ensures stability and progress. Under Israeli administration, Judea and Samaria have thrived — with infrastructure, jobs, and security unmatched under Palestinian rule — proving that Jewish stewardship brings stability where Palestinian governance fails. JNS: Netanyahu Government Leading Growth in Judea and Samaria (July 2025)
  • U.S. lawmakers are acknowledging the truth: In 2024, Senator Tom Cotton introduced a bill to replace “West Bank” with “Judea and Samaria” in all federal usage, recognizing the area’s biblical and historical identity. New York Post (Dec 6 2024)
  • Even within Israel, consensus is clear. “Many in the international community… regard a ‘two-state solution’ as the only realistic framework for peace. But public opinion in the region diverges from this vision.”  Gallup, Aug. 2025

Quotes:

  • “The Jewish people do not occupy the land, they own the land.” — John Hagee, “Israel and the Church”, Hagee Ministries, July 25 2025.
  • “A two-state solution is a bad idea – we need alternatives to end the conflict.” — Neville Berman, The Jerusalem Post Opinion, Sept. 1 2024.
  • “If Israel withdraws, another October 7 will repeat in the heart of the country.” — Rabbi Tuly Weiss, Pulse of Israel, Apr 2025

Takeaway:

  • Judea and Samaria are not bargaining chips — they are the cradle of Jewish history and identity. Dividing them would not bring peace but disaster. Upholding Jewish sovereignty here is a moral duty, a legal right, and the key to lasting security for Israel and the free world.
