Charlie Kirk believed that Islam fundamentally clashes with Western values—and that its goal isn’t peaceful coexistence, but domination.
“Is Islam compatible with Western values? Macro: Of course it’s not,” he said in an interview. “There are three major reasons why: Islam does not believe in freedom of speech, Islam does not believe in freedom of religion, and Islam does not believe in separation of mosque and state. Those three things are antithetical to the West.”
He explained that in most Muslim-majority countries, there is no criticizing Muhammad, no true freedom of religion, and the state usually follows Islam’s Sharia law. “Whereas we in the West are very careful to try to intermix religion and state,” he said, “they are commanded to actually go into the state and try to change the state to be more Islamic around the core pillars of Islam.”
The result, Charlie said, speaks for itself.
“I cannot see a single Western country that has become more Islamic and has [also] become a better place to live that is happier or freer.”
Ironically, his Islamic critics proved his point. An Islamic media outlet in Michigan, Project Guiding Light, celebrated his assassination as “praiseworthy” because he insulted Muhammad. “Whoever insults the Prophet or disparages him, whether Muslim or disbeliever, then he is to be killed,” they said. “What greater enemy to the Sharia is there than someone who insults the Messenger and by extension Allah?”
That was exactly Charlie’s point: Islam isn’t a “live and let live” culture—it demands obedience, submission, and conquest.
A Clash of Civilizations
To Charlie, this isn’t just a political or cultural fight—it’s civilizational. He often invoked the moral and intellectual foundations of the West to make his case.
“The question we need to reckon with in the West,” he said in an interview with British TV station GBNews, “is Muhammadism compatible with the teachings of [William] Blackstone? Is it compatible with the legacy of [William] Wilberforce and the great thinkers that have come from this country? And I will say, no. There is a reason why, when you go to these Islamic countries, that you’re not going to see the equal protection of rights. They do not believe in universal human equality. They do not believe in the same things we believe in the West. And I think it’s suicidal to import millions of them.”
The Western Collapse
Charlie saw the Islamization of the West not as a future threat, but as something already underway. The United Kingdom is the prime example of a Western country in the throes of Islamization. Sharia law isn’t officially recognized there, yet as many as 85 Sharia courts operate across Britain—making it the de facto capital of Islamic law in the Western world. The name “Mohammed” has been the most popular name for baby boys in England for eight years running. And Britain has become the financial hub of Islam in Europe, holding about 85% of all Islamic banking assets. There are now at least five banks in the UK that are fully compliant with Sharia law. London Mayor Sadiq Khan, a Muslim of Pakistani descent, encouraged President Trump to attend prayers at a mosque.
In the UK, Palestinian flags are flown freely while British flags are torn down. Muslim offenders have received reduced sentences in court because of their religion. And British police have covered up grooming gang scandals involving Muslim perpetrators for fear of being labeled “racist” or “Islamophobic.”
For Charlie, these are symptoms of a civilization succumbing to Islam.
“The West is collapsing and London is disintegrating,” he told Steve Deace on The Charlie Kirk Show. “It’s not the Jews who made London look like a foreign country.”
But the takeover isn’t just happening overseas—it’s happening here at home. The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) has openly outlined plans to expand Islamic influence in Congress and key industries. In Philadelphia, CAIR is pushing classroom materials that whitewash 9/11, promote antisemitism, and train students to reject “Islamophobia.” At the University of Chicago, Muslim professor Eman Abdelhadi boasted that she is using her position at the “evil” institution to “build power.” And in Michigan, radical Left-wing Islamist Abdul El-Sayed—now running for the U.S. Senate—has vowed to impose censorship under the banner of fighting “Islamophobia.”
Israel: The Front Line of Civilization
That’s also why Charlie was such a staunch supporter of Israel. He didn’t agree with every decision the Israeli government made, but he saw Israel as a fortress of Western civilization surrounded by Islamic barbarism.
“Israel shines a lot brighter when you contrast it with the barbarism and the … disgusting behavior—that’s being very sweet—the butchery of its neighbors,” he said on his show. “For anyone that has eyes to see and ears to hear, and actually reads the Hadith [teachings of Muhammad] and parts of the Quran, you know that conquest is an Islamic value. ‘To submit’ is literally what Islam means—to make those submit.”
He reminded audiences that this wasn’t theory—it was stated plainly by Muslim leaders. “Gaddafi said something similar in the late ’90s, saying, ‘We’re going to take over Europe without ever having to lift a sword.’ We’ve had imams in England saying they want to mount the West like a woman to be mounted and subdued.”
Charlie believed everything about Israel should be viewed through the “West vs. Islam” lens.
“Everything, when it comes to Israel, must be viewed through the premise of radical Islamofascism and Mohammedism,” he said. “We’ve been lending a lot of our platform towards this, and we’re getting a lot of death threats, a lot of targeting, a lot of the kind of Islamic ‘peaceful and tolerant’ world that is singling us out.”
That’s why he saw Israel’s war against Hamas not as a geopolitical skirmish but as a struggle between Western civilization and Islam.
“We’re on team civilization here,” he told his audience during Israel’s 12-day war against Iran. “We want to see the maniacs of Hamas be defeated and the barbarians of Islam not be able to storm the gates of the West.” Another time, he said: “The Israeli-Hamas struggle is one versus civilization and barbarism. Remember that.”
The Spiritual War
Charlie saw radical Islam as one half of a dual threat—working in tandem with Marxism and woke ideology to destroy the Christian foundations of the West.
“The spiritual battle is coming to the West and the enemies are woke-ism or Marxism combining with Islamism to go after what we call the American way of life,” he told a Christian audience. “I want to be able to get married, buy a home, have kids, allow them to ride their bike till the sun goes down, send them to a good school, have a low-crime neighborhood, not to have my kid be taught the lesbian, gay, transgender garbage in their school. While also, not having them have to hear the Muslim call to prayer five times a day.”
“Our sacrifice, our toil, our vision—the outgrowth of the Scriptures—gave us Western civilization,” he said. “Everybody—if you are Christian and Jesus Christ is your Lord and Savior—these two threats are combining forces to come after us. And it’s time the church stands and rises up against it.”
To his last day, Charlie was warning about Islam’s threat to the West: “Islam is the sword the left is using to slit the throat of America,” he posted to X on September 9, 2025. He was assassinated the next day.
Charlie’s message was simple: radical Islam is incompatible with Western freedom, hostile to Christians and Jews, and determined to dominate the world. Pretending otherwise, he warned, is how civilizations fall.
