You can’t talk about ending a war if you don’t understand who started it. Charlie said repeatedly that the October 7th attacks on Israel were unprovoked, deliberate, and orchestrated by Hamas. “Israel was unconditionally attacked on October 7th,” he said at the Oxford Union. “They’re responding in kind.”
Charlie Exposed the Lie of “Palestinian Resistance”
When Charlie debated college students on Israel and Gaza, he liked to first test their moral clarity. He wanted to see if they could tell right from wrong. And too often, they couldn’t. If a student tried to argue that the October 7th massacre was just “resistance” against Israel’s so-called “occupation,” Charlie wouldn’t let that slide.
“If you were correct and Hamas was trying to resist, why didn’t they go attack military targets? And instead they attacked civilian targets? That’s what terrorists do,” he told a student on The American Comeback tour. “So if it was really like they wanted to resist, they should have gone after IDF outposts and picked a fight with somebody their own size. They went after little kids in nurseries in kibbutzes.”
Charlie Called Out the Atrocities Hamas Tried to Hide
Charlie never shied away from showing people the grotesque reality of what Hamas actually did. “Look at the guys that for three hours straight were watching GoPro videos, laughing, putting babies in ovens,” he said. “The fact you don’t even know this exists is very telling. That’s why Israel has become so aggressive in return.”
Then there were the mass rapes. On October 7th, Hamas terrorists brutally raped women and men—sometimes before killing them, sometimes after. Over the two years that hostages were held, they endured unspeakable sexual horrors. This wasn’t “resistance.” It wasn’t a response to any “occupation.” It was pure, unrelenting hatred—stemming, as Charlie put it, from “the heart” of Hamas and the Palestinian Authority.
“One of the most horrific days in the history of the Jewish people,” Charlie reminded viewers on his show on the first anniversary of October 7th. “These terrorists had GoPro cameras, went after nurseries, children, kibbutzes, schools. It was like a holocaust attempt to be live-streamed. They were not trying to go after military installations. They were not trying to go after tanks. They were not trying to go after members of the IDF. They targeted civilians with intentionality. It’s one of the most evil days that we’ve seen. Families burned alive. And I think you have a moral obligation to look into what happened on October 7th if you do not know that. You see, these savages and the Islamists of Hamas did this with glee and with joy. They went into the rave music festival, kidnapped young women and men, they went and burned babies alive and laughed about it and live-streamed it. This is the heart of Hamas. It is the heart of the Palestinian Authority. Raped women and then cut their throats. They planned this with meticulous detail for quite some time.”
Hamas didn’t just provoke a response from Israel—they deliberately engineered civilian deaths by using Gazans as human shields.
“They build their headquarters under hospitals. It’s a fact. They use the entire population of women and children in Gaza as a massive 2.5 million-person human shield. That’s sick…It’s all hell. And they invited hell,” Charlie said.
Hamas Started the War—And Played Victim
And yet—even with all this—Hamas claimed to be the victim. That narrative might have fooled the legacy media. It might have fooled some naïve college kids. But it didn’t fool Charlie. On his Live Free Tour, when a student suggested that Israel somehow invited the massacre, Charlie didn’t hold back.
“When you wake up on your holiest day and 1,500 of your fellow Jews are slaughtered, yeah, then you are the victim of terrorism. I’ll just be very honest. That’s the equivalent of 50,000 Americans. And I will also say, though, that to Israel’s credit, they’re taking matters into their own hands. And while they are trying to of course encourage and increase sympathy for their cause, it’s now Hamas that’s playing the victim. It’s now Hamas that says, ‘Oh, stop bombing us. Stop doing all this.’ And I’ll be honest, it falls on deaf ears for me. It’s like, wait a second. Did you not launch an unprompted attack into civilian corridors, into homes and schools and nurseries on a holy day? So spare me your caterwauling. You guys were the ones that launched this war. And war is nasty. War is awful. And they’re saying they’ll do it again. The Hamas leader comes out and he says just a matter of time till every single day is October 7th.”
But Charlie didn’t just blame Hamas for starting the Gaza conflict. He also blamed their financiers. “They’re using children of Gaza as cannon fodder financed by the Iranian mullahs and dragging the entire world into this conflict,” he told a student at the Oxford Union.
For Charlie, the question of who started the Gaza conflict wasn’t about politics. It was about truth and moral courage. Israel didn’t start this war. Hamas did. Civilians were slaughtered. Women were raped. That’s not “resistance.” It’s evil. And Charlie didn’t let anyone blur that line.
